If you’ve been approved by the Academic Board to graduate at an upcoming ceremony, congratulations! This page contains details relevant to you.
Checklist for graduands
We encourage you to take these steps as soon as possible.
- Check that your College has your current email address and postal address;
- Ensure that you have no outstanding tuition fees, library fines or outstanding loans;
- Complete ceremony selection and registration as soon as possible when you receive the related correspondence (sent to you by email).
Select a ceremony
- 6 December 2019 (Adelaide)
- 7 February 2020 (Perth)
- 27 March 2020 (Melbourne)
Eligible graduands will receive an email from the Director of Academic Services (Dr Maggie Kappelhoff) informing them of their eligibility to graduate. This email will include a link to select a ceremony from the options available to you and indicate if you plan to attend the ceremony or not. Please note that there will be a deadline for by which you will need to select your ceremony. If a student does not reply to select a ceremony, they will be allocated to the next available ceremony.
To complete the ceremony selection, you will need to know your unique student number. You can locate your number by checking TAMS, or by asking your College Registrar.
Register to attend
A few weeks prior to your selected ceremony you will receive an email with an invitation to confirm your attendance (or absence) at the ceremony. This will include ceremony-specific information and instructions about how to confirm your attendance, hire/purchase regalia and book tickets for your guests to attend.
To complete the registration, you will need to know your unique student number.
- Registration to attend the December Adelaide Ceremony opens: TBC
- Registration to attend the December Adelaide Ceremony closes: TBC
What if I do not wish to attend the ceremony?
You will graduate ‘in absentia’. All eligible students graduate automatically. Students graduating ‘in absentia’ will receive their academic documents in the post a few weeks after the ceremony date. Please ensure you keep your postal address updated by informing your College Registrar of any changes at least two weeks before the ceremony.
Academic Dress (Regalia)
What to wear
If you are attending the ceremony to receive your award, you must wear the correct academic dress (regalia) for the award you are receiving, regardless of any other awards you may already have. What you wear under your regalia is up to you, but as this is a formal occasion we encourage you to choose suitably smart attire.
Where to hire/purchase regalia
Regalia is available for hire or purchase from Reed Graduation Services.
On the Reed website you can:
- book (hire or purchase) your graduation regalia
- pre-book a portrait photography session
- order University of Divinity merchandise
You will need your student number to place an order.
Step-by-step instructions on how to navigate the Reed website will be sent to you by email in the fortnight prior to your ceremony.
Collecting your regalia
You will collect your regalia on the day of your graduation ceremony. Please refer to your invitation email for collection times and locations.
Please present your graduand registration ticket when you come to collect your regalia. The person gowning you on the day of your graduation will check to make sure that your gown and hat are the right sizes.
Hired regalia must be returned to the collection point by 9:45pm after the conclusion of your ceremony.
Photographs are taken of each graduand as they receive their award from the Chancellor and these (termed ‘stage photos’ by Reed) will be available for purchase after the ceremony and online afterwards through the Reed Graduations website. For the Perth ceremony, stage photos will be available following the ceremony on the University of Divinity website, as Reed Graduations are not able to attend the Perth location.
For Melbourne and Adelaide-based ceremonies, Reed Graduation Services also offer graduands the opportunity to book portrait studio photos. These may be booked in advance and are generally taken in a studio at the graduation venue, prior to the ceremony.
Guest tickets for Melbourne Ceremony
Each graduating student is allocated two guest tickets, which can be booked through the University of Divinity website. There is no cost for guest tickets. If there are spare seats available, additional tickets will be made available a few days prior to the ceremony.
Note: A guest ticket restriction applies to the Melbourne ceremony only, due to the large number of graduands and guests who attend this ceremony. The Melbourne ceremony is live-streamed to allow family and friends who are not able to attend the ceremony due to the restriction to watch.
