Pathway Programs
ELSPM

English Language Studies Centre for Pastoral Ministry (ELSPM) focusses its courses on both academic and pastoral content, so all units of work are useful to students for either further theological study or pastoral work. This is particularly relevant for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) where students are introduced to subjects they may study in the future. These include theories of Education, Ethics, Social Justice and the role of women, Globalisation of faith and Wisdom.
The learning centre is located on the Yarra Theological Union Campus in Box Hill, Melbourne and provides an inclusive and nurturing environment for students from many parts of the world and from all Christian faiths.
ELSPM prepares students to write theological, referenced essays using the same style guide as the University of Divinity. This way students are prepared for university requirements. As part of the EAP course, students complete a 2000-word referenced essay on a biblical theme.
The students major speaking assessment is a presentation on a biblical theme.
Students are introduced to biblical exegesis and have weekly faith sharing to increase their speaking skills in a faith context.
